Sewage System Regulations

From a sanitary point of view, but also practical, wastewater must be disposed of in the right way. Each department has its own rule in this regard. Nevertheless, it is important to know which ones apply everywhere. Before building or renovating the house, here are the precautions to take into consideration for the disposal of wastewater.

According to the standards, what is called wastewater?

Before even installing pipes, it is necessary to know what the standards designate as being wastewater. In fact, there are two types depending on their previous use. We will then note the gray water and that which comes from the toilets.

Gray water and rainwater

Most of the devices used in the house promote the production of household-type wastewater. These include, in particular, water expenditure in the kitchen, in the bathroom, and in the showers. In a way, stormwater is also considered to be wastewater. Each of them requires the installation of pipes separately.

Sewage water

This is mainly wastewater from the toilets. They are evacuated using a separate fall for most homes since the black water is grouped together in the main collector. As the system necessary for the elimination of the latter must take into account different types of waste, it is often necessary to have all-water pits to promote sanitation in the house. They are then connected according to the regulations in force in each department.

The standards to follow for the installation of pipes

For these two types of wastewater, the occupants of the house must refer to specific standards with regard to the installation of pipes. In case of doubt, the owners of the house can seek advice from professionals in the field in order to not forget any detail of the regulations introduced by the authorities.

The principle of domestic wastewater

For household appliances, emptying must be carried out using a siphon where one can find occlusion systems according to the standards cited for each department. Their operation must also allow a water seal of up to 50mm. As a rule, these waters cannot be mixed with other types of wastewater during discharge. The installation of pipes must be connected to a mains drainage if the municipality has one.

Which installation of pipes for WCs

The cleaning and unclogging of septic tanks vary according to the municipalities. As a result, it is sometimes possible to connect to a collective network or it is necessary to create a staff to evacuate the wastewater from the toilets. Installation varies from location to location, so it's important to check with local sanitation authorities before taking on any fixings.
